Bob McKinney

Bob McKinney, CDT, has over 42 years of experience as a dental technician.

From 1980 to 1982, he served as President of the Dental Laboratory Association of Massachusetts. He received his certification in complete dentures and ceramics in 1976 and 1978. During 1979-1981 and 1983-1984, he was an instructor of advanced dental ceramics, anatomy and occlusion function at Middlesex Community College in Bedford, Massachusetts. From 1984 through 1991, he was a CDT examiner for the National Board of Certification. He worked on five different boards to update and rewrite the CDT exam, and he also served as vice chairman on the board of directors for the National Certified Dental Laboratory from 1991 to 1993.

From 1994 to 1997, Bob served as a technical advisor for 3M Corporation, Dental Laboratory Division. He was involved with several research projects for 3M and has also lectured throughout North and South America.

From 1997 to 2000, Bob served as a technical advisor for Shofu Dental Corporation. He was chosen to work on over 100 test crowns for a clinical trial for C.R.A. for the Food and Drug Administration on the SHOFU SOLIDEX® composite system, which is presently being used throughout the world. He also lectured and presented hands-on clinics on the Halo® Porcelain system.

From 2001-2003, Bob served as a technical advisor for Vident where his area of expertise was 24K Helioform and Vita Omega® 900 porcelain. He has lectured on electroforming 24K copings for Gramm Technology, and has given lectures for Polaroid Corporation on dental photography and esthetics.

Bob is currently President and Owner of J&B Dental Studio, Inc. in Danvers, Massachusetts, which he founded in 1975. He has had the honor of working with and studying under master ceramist Makoto Yamamoto of Osaka, Japan, and has followed his technical philosophy throughout his career. He has lectured and conducted clinics extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada. He has served on the advisory boards for Middlesex Community College and Northeast Regional Technical School, and is also an affiliate member of the American Prosthodontic Society.
